I now have a paypal upgrade that lets me accept credit cards! *w00t!*
So.. If you've been feeling generous, and want to do a good deed to support your local artist, chip in for some art-of-the-week
or comission a drawing. I'll love you long time.
Mar 6, my site got it's 2000th hit. Now, 20 days later, it's up to 3000. That's pretty damn cool. Thanks to everyone
who's making this 'artist' thing possible. :}
Cool things I'm working on:
-Website redesign. maybe a new look. I dunno.
-Eagerly awaiting next cartoon assignment from the [splc.org]
-Working on some conceptuals for graphic novels.
-The [citylimits] project has two new contributing artists!
I just got my assignment from the Student Press Law Center. I'm looking forward to a hopefully long and fruitful relationship with them. Besides, they're a VERY worthy charity. i suggest
donating if you can. Think about it, a group dedicated to the rights of our student press? I'm WAY down. That being said,
i'm also WAY busy. Other-sundays at Dog-ma Daycare take a chunk of time. I'll survive. It just means i have to work that much harder to get stuff out on time. Sorry this is
late. ;]
So i've been looking at the calendars on Cafepress, and i'm looking at doing one of animals, one plants, DC, Baltimore.
So 4 total.
That being said, I gotta make/find 13 appropriate images for each. So who has suggestions? I'd love to hear
your ideas! Once i decide which images i want, i have to find the high-rez copies so I can get the best quality. :}
I fixed the horrid misspelling (was that ever a strength?) in the Royal Hedonist Society shirt. I only
fixed the polo shirt, and will fix the tshirt and tanktop tonight. *caugh*youknowwhoyouare*caugh*
In my ever-shrinking free time I'll also finally do the separated and organized sections-project for the store: ill [technically]
I picked up alternate sundays at [Dog-ma Daycare & Boarding] (my dayjob *w00t!* PUPPIES!). I'm waiting for the first assignments from the Student
Press Law Center I think this will be a fantastic opportunity to do some resume-building work and start making
my opinions known. ;]
I wanted to make this a first formal piece of an attempted combination of digital/photoshop over pen/ink, but leaving
a large portion of the analogue untouched.
I've got a new art-of-the-week image up, as promised. *yay* for being productive. ;p
It's called Lunch. That's the moon up in the corner.. really. *ahem*. As usual [pass:hat] if you can
be so kind as to donate $1 through the secure paypal buttons (and yes, there are cool people that do), i'll sign and number
a copy and email it to you. Cheesy, but art is art. Later, if you'd like that image printed, framed, etc, i can
do that too. Emeril would say, "think of the love, and the happy happy". All of that joy, for just $1. [/pass]
It's giving me alot to work at though, in between bites on craigslist. People on the metro comment as they watch me draw,
some enquire about commisions. My card is distributed a couple times a week. It's redonkulously slow progress,
but it's exposure and it's working. So is the myspace link, as well as my other media outlets. I'll be a professional
artist yet! ;p
So as the 2200'd hit on my humble site approaches, i'm struck with the idea of re-designing it. Laying out Edo:2k5, and
R&B up front, with the blog below. I like the column of buttons on the side that help navigate around. I think.
I got an idea from some other websites i admire... Why not an Art of The Week that I'd make new, every week for you guys.
If you donate $1, i'll email you a signed, numbered copy. I know, not quite as cool as the traditional way, but it helps
me, it gives you that same warm heart-burn-esque feeling that we call 'supporting an artist'. Besides, it
helps me stay sharp, builds my resume, and when i have 52 of them, i'm going to put them together in a book to be published.
Stories, inspirations, etc.
As my website approaches it's 2000th hit, I'm pondering re-building the website to bring it more content-forward. Sites
like [Mac Hall], [Applegeeks], [Something Positive] all have content-forward design. Granted, they're all webcomics, but alot of other art sites also have content more accessable
-and more of it just decorating. Because i'm trying to do 2 art series' at once - Robots & Buildings, and Edo:2k5 (Yes,
R&B is a webcomic. Edo, not so much. I'm trying to do them as actual art pieces with a related theme)- i'm not sure if
i want to have both up front side by side, with the icon/nav bar where it is, this blog... all that. I'm also going to include
a writing section in the new layout... though the political commentary blog, "Bobcat Speaks" may end up on it's own site.
Decisions decisions.
CITY LIMITS UPDATES: -Pre-orders for the book are up. Check out the [City Limits] page for more information. I don't have the language to express how excited i am about this project. Really. Katy from [Neomera Knits] and George from [Blueday] have given me one heck of an opportunity with the book. Thanks guys. As always, check back for updates, changes, etc. And
maybe, one day, i'll figure out how to enable comments on this thing. ;p
